| CLASS DESCRIPTIONS |
ADVANCED
|
A challenging class that concentrates on synchronizing the
breath, bandhas, and asanas to create greater focus, strength
and flexibility. It is recommended to students that have
had at least three months experience with some form of
flowing yoga. This class will either be the strict Primary
series or some combination of the Primary and Intermediate
series.
|
OPEN
|
This intermediate
level flowing Vinyasa class pulls from the Ashtanga yoga
system, but the sequences vary depending on the general level
of the students in the class. This class is open to everyone,
but some prior experience with any form of Hatha yoga is
recommended. There is more emphasis placed on alignment and
the names of the asanas than in the Advanced class and questions
are always welcome. This class will give you a feel for the
dance-like flow that is unique to Ashtanga yoga.
|
BASICS
|
A one-hour, $7
class designed for everyone from the absolute
beginner, who would like to experience first-hand the therapeutic
benefits of yoga, to the advanced practitioner who would
like to come back to the beginning and move slowly through
the fundamental postures and pranayama (breath control).
This class is open to everybody, no matter what their level
of fitness may be.
|
ALIGNMENT
|
In this
class we take time to explore our alignment in one particular
aspect of our Hatha yoga practice. Each week there is
a different theme such as forward bends, backbends, twists,
gaze-points, hip-openers and so on. Anatomical terms
are introduced so that students might further understand
what muscles and bones are responsible for proper alignment
in various poses. This class is open to all levels and
variations of the more advanced postures are described
in detail, it acts as a great complement to the more
flowing Ashtanga based classes.
